MY BOOK BEGINNING:
New York City-Present Day
"It started the night Hickory was shot to death. Hickory, my dog." Tara looks forlornly at Dr Christie Lind. "Like a, I don't know, a premonition of doom."

56%:
Outside, in the world that was once real, it is raining, a slow, incessant drizzle, settling on her shoulders and hair. More like a Seattle morning than one in New York.

Synopsis:

From the New York Times bestselling author of The Girl at the Border comes a haunting thriller about one woman’s journey into the painful truths threatening to destroy her.

When Tara Peary’s twin sister Sophie goes missing, Tara dives into New York’s underbelly to find her. Sophie is the one person who’s ever truly understood her, and Tara knows her sister isn’t the only one who needs help.

Tara is also on the run emotionally from her complicated childhood. Her memories are threatening to overwhelm her emotions and derail the hunt for Sophie. A psychotherapist keeps her afloat, but when Tara begins dating her therapist’s young tech-millionaire neighbor, she risks losing the only lifelines she has left.

The more Tara uncovers about her sister’s disappearance and the dark side of the rich elite, the less certain of the truth she becomes. As Tara reaches the center of the mystery, spanning from her childhood home in Georgia to a Southern California beach, she has to decide whether the truth is a price she’s willing to pay.

While this book sounds great I am highly disappointed in it. My review will be posted shortly.

  1. Who the heck would shoot a dog?! I'm dumbfounded! (Sounds like a great read though, if I can get past that.) Happy Valentine's weekend!

    1. I know right.
I didn't much like this book and not only because of the dog. The dog part was very vague. Just mentioned near the end.
This book just fell short for me though you may love it.
Thanks and have a Happy Valentine's weekend also!

  2. I'm with Freda. Who shoots a dog?! I am glad to hear the dog part is vague because that would really bug me. I am sorry the book fell flat for you. It did sound good from the synopsis. I hope you have a great weekend, Linda.

    1. I was glad too. I love animals and hate when one is added to a book to be killed or abused.
This book sure had great promise. And it could just be me. You or others may love it. Seems a few sure did. To me it just started slow and jumped around way too much. I don't like when books do that.
You have a great Valentine's weekend.
      Thanks for stopping by!
