Tour for "THE LUCKY ONE" by Jessica Payne

MY THOUGHTS

I read this author's first book, MAKE ME DISAPPEAR, and enjoyed it very much. This one is just as good. It kept me turning the pages to find out who Hansel really was. I had three guesses and one I honestly didn't want to be it. Of course that was who it was though. It made the book even more suspenseful though.

A serial killer has returned and he wants Norah and nothing is going to stop him. Ten years ago she made him believe she could love him as he was. She only had to go home and take care of her dad first. She escaped. Her best friend however was not so lucky. She could not identify this killer because he wore a ski mask but she did feel like there was something familiar about him. But that could have been because she was terrified he was going to kill her too.

When Norah's dad dies and she goes back home to take care of things nothing will ever be the same. Her life will be completely turned upside down. All these years later and things are starting again. Last time the cops didn't solve anything. This time she is determined to find this killer and bring justice for what he has done. Her friends, both old and new, are going to help. But who will survive? Who will be left standing after all is said and done? This is a true edge of your seat thriller that will have you guessing all the way through. Who is next and who can she trust?

This is another well written book by a new author, Jessica Payne. Her first book was great and this one is also. You have to read these if you like good edge of your seat thrills. Through in a little love and a lot of friendship and you have a great book. The only fault I found was the over use of the word decade. It just seemed to be used a bit too much. But that was ok too. In the end the only thing that matters is who survived the big fight in the woods. Who was able to walk away from the cabin unscathed.

Thank you #NetGalley, #JessicaPayne, #Bookouture for this ARC. This is my own true thoughts about this book.

5 stars and a very high recommendation.

SYNOPSIS

We were all there that prom night, but one of us didn’t make it home…

Ten years ago: We laughed together on the dance floor that night, our dresses glittering in the swirling lights. One final night of fun before the rest of our lives. We couldn’t have known that for one of us, it would be our last…

Now: They say that I’m the lucky one, the survivor. But no one knows the truth—the thing I’ve been running from all this time. How I escaped.

Back in my hometown a decade later—the place I’ve avoided—I can feel the questioning eyes on me, the whispers. The rumors.

I can’t shake the feeling that I am being followed, the shadow of a reflection in the glass storefronts, the murmur of footsteps before I turn to look. But no one’s ever there, and I tell myself it’s all in my head. Then the anonymous messages land in my inbox, overly familiar and insistent:
I’m watchingI’ve been waiting for you.

I should have known I couldn’t run forever. I want to feel safe surrounded by my best friends. But everyone has something to hide, and I don’t know who I can trust.

Someone out there won’t let me forget what really happened that night, what I promised.
What if, this time, I’m not so lucky?

An addictive, nail-biting psychological thriller, The Lucky One will have you sleeping with the light on. Fans of Stillhouse LakeThe Girl on the Train and Gillian Flynn will be totally hooked!

Readers can’t get enough of Jessica Payne:

Wow, what did I just read??? I cannot stop thinking about this… The pages just flew by as I was reading and sitting on the edge of my seat. I loved this… Kept me up well past my bedtime.”NetGalley reviewer, ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
