LITTLE RED HOUSE by Liv Anderson

MY THOUGHTS

This book is very intriguing. It had me turning the pages and wondering what was going to happen next. It's a thriller/mystery for sure. Every time I thought I had it figured out something would happen to prove me wrong. That the kind of book that I love. Many twists and turns. Many surprises to keep you wondering and guessing. This book is about very sick, sadistic person/persons.

Young women are being killed. Many left out in the elements. Raped and dismembered. Severely hurt. Some identified. Some not. One mother is on a quest to find her daughter before something happens to her. If it hasn't already. Back in 1997 Eve goes to New Mexico looking for her daughter Kelsey. Kelsey had run away from home and was followed to New Mexico where she was last seen. Alive anyway. Eve will not stop until she finds her daughter. No matter the cost.

In the present there are two young ladies, Connie and Lisa, who Eve had adopted after losing her daughter. She's a very evil woman to Connie. Some of the things she does seem horrendous. Why would anyone adopt a child or children just to terrorize them? Eve sends Connie to live on the streets. She gives her just a tiny amount of money and a few clothes. Connie has to figure out how to survive. She does it to protect her twin sister Lisa. To keep Eve from hurting Lisa.

Connie ultimately ends up in New Mexico where her mother had left her a worn down house. A caretaker. And five thousand dollars a year to live on. After Eve died that is what she left Connie. She left all of her money and homes to Lisa. Lisa was very wealthy and could not help Connie in any way or she would lose it all. What Connie uncovers in Nihla, New Mexico will curl your toes. Make you cringe. Make you wonder what kind of people truly make up this world. What Connie does is survive. She fixes up the Little Red House and uncovers a lot. Along with the caretaker Jet she finds out a lot.

This book is full of so many twists and turns. It keeps you on your toes. You won't see it coming until it finally hits and then you will expel the breath you was holding. Parts will make you sad. Bring out some tears. Parts will make you angry. Wonder why or how can a person do these things. How can a mother do this to her child. And just exactly who is Jet. Who can Connie trust. Can she trust anyone really???

Thank you #NetGalley, #LivAndersson, #CrookedLaneBooks for this ARC. This is my own true thoughts about this book.

5 huge stars and a very high recommendation. It releases December 6th. Be sure and grab this one. It's edge of your seat good.

SYNOPSIS

Twenty years isn’t enough to erase the sins of the past—but the future is even more terrifying in this thrilling read perfect for fans of Megan Collins and Julia Heaberlin.

In 1997, Eve Foster’s daughter, Kelsey, runs away to New Mexico and vanishes without a trace. Eve is convinced that she’s the victim of a serial killer who’s been hunting women in the region—but Kelsey’s body is never found.

Years later, Eve dies, leaving everything to her adopted twin daughters. The majority of the wealthy estate in Vermont goes to Lisa, the “good daughter,” while Connie inherits only a small stipend and a property in New Mexico. Connie, often the target of Eve's cruelty, suspects this was another of her mother's vindictive games.

Connie arrives in New Mexico to find a small, dilapidated red house in the desert, and the home’s mysterious caretaker, Jet Montgomery, living in a shack on the property. She learns there's been a string of women murdered in the area—murders that no one will talk about.

Before Connie can get to the truth, her mother’s sadistic mind games come creeping back from the grave—and now the danger becomes all too real. With a serial killer on the loose and a trove of deadly secrets coming to the surface, Connie is in a desperate race to save herself and what little is left of her shattered family.
