The French Honeymoon by Anne-Sophie Jouhanneau

My thoughts

A new to me author. I enjoyed this one but the ending was not good. It kind of left to much to the imagination.

Two sisters. One adopted. One jealous.

When Taylor comes to live with Rae and Cassie she has no idea what to expect. She's just a child and wants to see her birth mother more than anything. She has no idea what happened. Or what is to become of her.

Cassie didn't ever truly like Taylor. She only accepted her because she wasn't given a choice. Through all their growing years she was mean to Taylor. Made her do things that she herself didn't want to do. She caused Taylor so much heartache. Cassie is a very selfish girl and woman in later years.

Cassie's dad left when she was very young. He didn't want to be her father. Her mother was heartbroken. He left and went on to marry another and have a family with them. Rae, Cassie's mom was not a bad woman. She took in Taylor after her mom went to prison.

When Cassie's dad dies she gets a call from his wife. She goes to his funeral and thus inherits quite a sum of money and the deed to the house/Inn she grew up in. That her and Taylor grew up in. While in NY she meets Olivier.

Olivier convinces Cassie to marry him so he can stay in the country. It's only for two years so what could possibly go wrong..... Little does he know. Cassie is horrible. She's never been good to anyone. She only agrees to make her ex jealous and because Olivier is French. That will make Taylor jealous.

This book is told from three POVs. Taylor, Cassie, and Olivier. There is cheating. Death. Attempted murder. Even some sex though nothing elaborate. Just mentioned. The main setting is in Paris though it starts out in the USA. And ends back in the US.

I didn't really like any of the characters. Both women were silly and kind of stupid. I would have like Taylor but she was just to submissive. To easy to bully. Olivier was a player in my opinion and I didn't like him. But it was an interesting read. I did enjoy it.

Thank you #NetGalley, #Sourcebookslandmark, for this ARC.

About

The Paris Apartment meets A Simple Favor in an unputdownable thriller about a honeymoon gone horribly wrong.

Sometimes, Paris is a terrible idea.

This is not how she imagined it, any of it. Taylor Quinn arrives at her honeymoon suite in the City of Lights alone, sans suitcase, but with wads of stolen cash. When she catches a glimpse of newlyweds Cassie and Olivier enjoying their happily ever after, she can't tear her eyes away. And Cassie makes their antics easy to follow as she reveals every detail of their picture-perfect trip on social media. Taylor's obsession builds as she tracks their every move. This was the kind of life she was supposed to be living, this was the honeymoon she dreamed of.

The illusion is shattered when she overhears a heated argument between Cassie and Olivier, which reveals that they're not the lovestruck couple they pretend to be. But Cassie and Olivier have agendas of their own and Taylor can't see the danger in getting in the middle of this until it's too late. And now, no one will get out of Paris unscathed.
